PODIUM IN MALAYSIA!

Team WRT kicked off its 2025–2026 Asian Le Mans Series campaign and made its first appearance last weekend at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia under mixed and highly unpredictable weather conditions with its two BMW M4 GT3 EVOs. Throughout the weekend, intense but short rain showers repeatedly impacted the track, playing a decisive role in tyre strategy and race management and adding an extra layer of complexity to the opening round of the championship.

The race grids were set based on each car’s fastest laps in the single qualifying session of the weekend, with the quickest determining the starting positions for Race 1 and the second-fastest setting the lineup for Race 2. Car #28, running under the UNX Racing by Team WRT banner with Belgian duo Mathieu Detry and Fabian Duffieux alongside BMW M Works Driver Augusto Farfus, secured fourth place for Race 1, while car #69, featuring its new driver line-up of Anthony McIntosh, Parker Thompson, and Dan Harper, claimed fifth. For Race 2, car #69 continued its strong form, starting from fourth, whereas car #28 lined up eleventh.

The opening race of the weekend was a challenging one: car #69 finished P12, while two penalties relegated car #28 to P17. The second race of the event was ultimately stopped by a red flag with 12 minutes remaining due to torrential rain. Despite the challenging conditions, this race marked a clear step forward and a rewarding moment for the team. Car #69 delivered a strong and consistent performance to secure its first podium of the season with a second-place finish, while car #28 concluded the race in P11.

The team will now enjoy a short winter break before heading to the United States and the United Arab Emirates for a busy start to the season, featuring the 24 Hours of Daytona, preceded by the Roar Before the Rolex 24 on January 17, 18 and 19 as well as the 24 Hours of Dubai, held on the same dates.

Vincent Vosse, Team WRT Team Principal:"Very happy with Sunday’s result in Sepang! It marks the beginning of a new adventure in the Asian Le Mans Series with two highly competitive line-ups. Unfortunately, the #28 of Augusto Farfus, Mathieu Detry and Fabian Duffieux faced a more challenging event. The #69 of Dan Harper, Parker Thompson and Anthony McIntosh delivered an excellent result and showed that with the right strategy, a lot is possible. A strong start to the championship, even if it’s a pity we didn’t score points on Saturday but that’s racing! See you in Dubai for the next round!"
